Why Do We Go To The Chiropractor?
A common reaction to the question, “Have you ever been to a Chiropractor? ” often goes like this: “Oh, I don’t get back pain. ” Or in many cases better yet, “My problem isn’t bad enough to talk somebody about it. ” The initial response implies that we should only seek chiropractic help to relieve back pain. The second response admits that not only does the person have a cronic problem, but they have yet to get help for it. They are intending wait until it gets “bad enough. ” These responses are very upsetting for a Chiropractic Doctor to hear.
Fortunately, Chiropractic Care Specialists have recently noticed more people attempt to understand what chiropractic is actually all about. More people visit the Chiropractor’s office even though they do not have any major grievances. For many however, it still takes some sort of painful condition that forces these phones come in to see if a Chiropractor can relieve that pain. Then, as their Chiropractor, we try to educate them on the best way out of “reaction” manner and into “prevention” manner.
One Chiropractor I interviewed said his grandfather, along with, both his parents became Dentists. Growing up this Chiropractor learned early that good dental care was not just about “fixing” damaged teeth. It is about promoting good oral health. Most Chiropractors have adopted a similar philosophy with regard to overall wellness. Chiropractors try to get people to consider chiropractic care just like they think of their Dentist. Sure there are differences in what these two professions actually do, but there are many similarities, as well. Small problems are much earier to treat than large issues, and small problems tend to turn into large issues when untreated.
When it comes to the body, often times small issues don’t show any symptoms that a patient notices. These issues are easily spotted at routine chiropractic visits though. Telling your chiropractor you don’t need them, because you exercise habitually, is like telling your Dentist you do not need them, because you brush daily. Chiropractors spend a lot time teaching patients that even though they are often without symptoms they often have tight muscles, trigger points and joints which were not operating quite right. These small problems often turn into bigger ones when left untreated. Optimum health in the body requires personal care and attention and the regular guidance of your local chiropractic care professional.
Chiropractors provide their patients with more than just pain relief. They help their patients to live healthier.
